About the product
Coblation is a modern surgical method in the ENT field, superior to classic surgery with laser or radiofrequency. Its main advantage is the removal of affected tissue without impacting its functionality and without injuring neighbouring tissue. Coblation is used in both adults and children.
The technique uses a high-frequency electrical current at low temperatures (40–60 °C) and saline solution to remove tissue delicately and precisely in a well-defined area, without creating burns or heat in adjacent zones. Coblation “melts” and “vaporises” the targeted tissue, achieving volumetric reduction with minimal damage to surrounding tissue. The technique also achieves haemostasis.
The coblation method is used successfully in:
- polyp surgery (adenoidectomy);
- tonsil surgery (tonsillotomy, tonsillectomy, tonsil cryptolysis);
- turbinoplasty (reduction of nasal turbinate volume);
- snoring surgery (soft palate, uvula, base of tongue, etc.);
- laryngeal surgery — excision of papillomas, cysts, polyps, granulomas, etc.
The COBLATOR II Controller surgical coblation system assists physicians via a generator that integrates energy delivery for the coblation procedure, bipolar coagulation, irrigation and suction. The generator uses a unique control mode that delivers the appropriate amount of energy to create the plasma field, adjusting it based on the electrical resistance of the circuit formed between the active electrode, the saline irrigating the wand, the vapour layer coating the electrode and the procedural conditions.
The procedure uses coblation wands, which differ by clinical use:
- EVAC 70 XTRA — single-use wand for adenoidectomy, tonsillotomy, tonsillectomy, cryptolysis and uvuloplasty via controlled plasma ablation. Integrates haemostasis by bipolar coagulation, continuous saline irrigation and suction; 3-wire active electrode, malleable-shaft sheath for access to the choanae, integrated irrigation and suction ports.
- REFLEX ULTRA 45 — wand for reduction of inferior turbinate hypertrophy via COBLATION-CHANNELING technology. Distal active electrode, return electrode, proximal thermal electrode and 3 black visual markers for positioning. Probe diameter 1.7 mm, active length 56.1 mm, electrode area 10 mm.
- PROCISE MAX — for volumetric ablation in intracapsular tonsillectomy (tonsillotomy) and adenoidectomy. Flat electrode for rapid ablation over a large plasma surface, saline delivery independent of wand orientation, integrated saline line, malleable sheath, integrated suction tube with low clog risk.
- PROCISE EZ View — for soft-tissue ablation in the sinus cavities. 3-wire tungsten active electrode and malleable sheath; the smallest device in the wand range, gravity-defying saline delivery, non-obstructive suction ports, improved precision and visibility in sinus surgery.
- PROCISE LW — flat active electrode for volumetric plasma ablation of various laryngeal pathologies (benign tumours — nodules, polyps, granulomas, papillomas). Haemostasis by bipolar coagulation, continuous saline irrigation and suction; integrated cable, malleable sheath, single use.
