Insighters range — airway visualisation & intubation

Insighters airway-management products have been present in the hospital and pre-hospital clinical environment since 2014 and are currently used in over 10,000 hospitals worldwide.

The Insighters range of intubation devices combines patented digital imaging technology with innovative equipment that simplifies intubation procedures and workflow in both routine and difficult intubations. It comprises:

• iS3 / iS6 portable video units;
• iS3-L, iS6 videolaryngoscopes;
• iS3-C, iS3-F flexible videoendoscopes;
• iS3-R rigid videoendoscopes;
• I-Workstation workstations;
• complete airway kits.

Insighters video units

The Insighters portable video units are specially designed to simplify the workflow in critical and emergency settings and to facilitate staff training for correct procedures, regardless of the intubation device used. They are interchangeable and can be used with all airway-management devices, offering ease of handling, high resolution and autonomy, and dedicated functions for all clinical environments.

iS3 and iS6 video units

• 3.5-inch touchscreen, interchangeable, connecting to all devices in the Insighters range;
• 240 minutes (working time) autonomy on battery;
• Multimedia functions: photo and video capture, USB connection;
• Built-in staff training module; dedicated indoor and outdoor operating modes; anti-fog technology;
• Screen rotation, ideal for patients with specific needs (e.g. obese patients requiring a different approach);
• Two models, iS3 and iS6, with 640×480 resolution.

Insighters videolaryngoscopes

Innovative devices for all patient types, with a unique extensible design for all blade sizes: the extended position is for large blades, the retracted position for small blades. With high resolution for the best possible view, they address a variety of clinical conditions, including the pre-hospital environment.

Insighters iS3-L videolaryngoscope

• Intubation device for all patient types; unique extensible design;
• Uses 6 blade sizes for newborns, paediatric and adult (including bariatric) patients, for endotracheal tubes 2.5–11 mm;
• 300,000-pixel resolution; illumination ≥ 1000 lux; CMOS digital sensor; colour temperature ≥ 5000 K;
• Anti-fog technology requiring no heating or wait time;
• Clinical applications: routine and difficult intubation during general anaesthesia, in ICU, ED, neonatal ICU and pre-hospital.

Insighters iS6-L videolaryngoscope

• Intubation device for all patient types; unique extensible design;
• Uses 4 blade sizes for premature, newborn, paediatric and adult (including bariatric) patients, for endotracheal tubes from 2.5 mm;
• 1,000,000-pixel resolution; illumination ≥ 1000 lux; CMOS digital sensor; colour temperature ≥ 5000 K;
• Anti-fog technology requiring no heating or wait time;
• Clinical applications: routine and difficult intubation during general anaesthesia, in ICU, ED, neonatal ICU and pre-hospital.

Rigid videoendoscopes

The Insighters rigid videoendoscopes have a unique design and technology to assist physicians with intubation in the most varied clinical conditions, mainly in ICU and emergency medicine, including pre-hospital and difficult airways. They allow simultaneous endotracheal tube insertion and oxygenation, via a dedicated port on the tube-fixation system. The rigid endoscopes come in two sizes and have a soft, malleable, shape-memory proximal section with a stylet design for fast shaping when needed.

iS3-R rigid videoendoscope

• Insight Shaping technology — semi-rigid stylet design; the distal end is a shape-memory titanium alloy so it can match the patient’s specific anatomy;
• Automatically regains its initial shape by holding in warm water ≥ 60 °C for 3–4 seconds;
• Oxygen-supply port during intubation; durable and easy to maintain, no consumables;
• Suitable for routine and difficult-airway intubation, especially for patients with a small mouth opening or specific anatomy;
• Available in several sizes: 2.2 and 4.1 mm, for adult and paediatric intubation;
• The proximal tip allows angulation between 45 and 150°; working length 41 cm.

Flexible videoendoscopes

Innovative electronic endoscopes that do not use optical fibre for imaging or illumination, making them more durable and providing HD image quality for clear visualisation and accurate diagnosis. Their portable design makes them ideal for inter-department use, easy to handle and transport between hospital wards.

Available with and without a working channel, they can be used for numerous clinical applications, such as: routine and difficult intubation during general anaesthesia (ICU, ED, pre-hospital); awake intubation; placement of double-lumen tubes for selective intubation in ICU and emergency medicine; bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL); aspiration; biopsy; foreign-body removal.

iS3-C / iS3-F flexible videoendoscopes

• Available in 2 models, with and without a working channel;
• With working channel: 4 sizes, external Ø 2.4, 3.5, 4.5, 5.2 and 5.8 mm;
• Without working channel: 2 sizes, external Ø 2.8 and 3.6 mm;
• Fully digital imaging technology (CMOS and LED); durable, no integrated optical fibre;
• 160,000-pixel camera; two-way (up-down) angulation between 130 and 180°;
• Working length 60 cm, customisable; illumination of at least 400 lux at 20 mm height;
• Made of abrasion- and breakage-resistant materials.

I-Workstation

A multifunctional platform compatible with the Insighters range of airway-management and visualisation devices:

• 13.3-inch screen; display on 2 or 3 channels simultaneously (model dependent); Wi-Fi or LAN connection;
• Compatible with the iS3-L/iS6/iS2 videolaryngoscopes, iS3-C/iS3-F flexible videoendoscopes and iS3-R rigid videoendoscopes;
• Image-adjustment functions: pan, zoom window, quick return to main menu;
• Documentation functions: video recording, photos, recording playback; patient report creation, display and printing.

Complete airway kits

The complete airway-management kit, for both routine and difficult intubation, brings together all the Insighters devices that may be needed to intubate per routine and difficult-airway clinical guidelines for all patient types, comprising:

• 2 universal, interchangeable iS3 video units;
• 1 videolaryngoscope for all patient types;
• 1 rigid videoendoscope;
• 1 flexible videoendoscope with working channel;
• 1 flexible videoendoscope without working channel.
